Seamless Gutters in Bloomington & Southern Indiana

Gutters made on site to fit your home, with the guards, downspouts and drainage to carry rainwater away.

Seamless Gutters in Bloomington & Southern Indiana

Anthony’s has looked after lawns and trees around Bloomington for 15 years, and gutters were the job our customers kept asking us about, so we started installing them too.

We bring the gutter machine to your driveway and make each gutter in one long piece, cut to the exact length of your roofline. Store-bought gutters come in 10-foot sections, and those seams are usually the first place a gutter starts to drip, so with ours the only joints are at the corners and downspouts.

Most homes do well with 5-inch gutters, while bigger or steeper roofs usually need 6-inch, and we’ll measure and recommend the right size at your estimate. On install day we match the color to your trim and haul your old gutters away before we leave.

Why Southern Indiana Homes Need Gutters That Keep Up

Most people find out their gutters can’t keep up during a spring thunderstorm, when water pours over the edge and digs a trench in the flowerbed below. Southern Indiana’s clay soil doesn’t soak that water up very fast, so it sits against the foundation and finds its way into the basement.

Fall makes it worse. Oak and maple leaves pack the gutters, and once they’re full the water backs up and soaks into the wood behind them until it starts to rot. Add a winter’s worth of ice to a clogged gutter and the weight can pull it right off the house.

Seamless gutters sized for your roof and hung on sturdy hangers every 24 inches keep the water moving and send it somewhere it can drain.

Gutter Guards for Bloomington's Leaf Season

Gutter cleaning always seems to come due in late November, when the leaves are soggy and the ladder is cold. Gutter guards keep most of the leaves and seed pods out, so you’re up there far less often, and we’ll suggest the guard that suits the trees around your house and your budget.

No guard catches everything, so for the bits that still slip through, our gutter cleaning crew can stop by once in a while.

Downspout Installation and Underground Drainage

Plenty of homes have decent gutters and still get a wet basement, because the downspout empties right at the corner of the house and the water runs back toward the foundation. The usual fix is a plastic extension across the lawn, which tends to get kicked aside or clipped by the mower by midsummer.

We’d rather bury it. We install downspouts sized to your gutters, then run an underground line from each one to a pop-up emitter out in the yard, where the water comes up and soaks in well away from the house.

If the whole yard stays soggy and the water isn’t coming off the roof, that’s a job for our landscape drainage and yard grading crews.

Fascia Cap to Protect the Wood Behind Your Gutters

The fascia is the board your gutters hang on, and it takes a soaking every time a gutter overflows. After a few years of that, bare or painted wood starts to peel and go soft. Fascia cap wraps the board in painted aluminum so it stays dry and you can stop repainting it. We can add it when we put up new gutters or on its own.

Sno-Bar Snow Guards for Metal Roofs

If you have a metal roof, you’ve probably heard it: a few days after a snowfall, the sun warms the panels and the whole load lets go at once. That slide can tear gutters off and crush an air conditioner or a lower roof below. Sno-Bar is a 26-gauge steel bar that holds the snow in place so it melts off a little at a time, and we size and place it for the pitch of your roof in a color that blends in.

Replacing Storm-Damaged Gutters

The morning after a bad storm, it’s common to walk outside and find a gutter hanging at an angle or sagging in the middle where ice weighed it down. Hard freezes work more slowly, splitting the corner seams until they drip every time it rains. Thin sectional gutters get the worst of it, and once they’re bent, a new seamless system is usually the better fix, because heavier aluminum on closer hangers holds up much better the next time.

If a storm damages gutters we installed, our 5-year warranty covers wind up to 50 mph as well as ice and snow, so give us a call and we’ll come back and fix it.

Seamless Gutter FAQs

What are seamless gutters?

Seamless gutters are made in one continuous piece for each side of your house instead of being joined together from 10-foot sections. We form them on site with a gutter machine on our truck, so each run is cut to the exact length of your roofline and has far fewer places to leak.

How long do seamless gutters last?

How long gutters last depends mostly on how well they’re hung and how clean they’re kept. We use heavy .032-gauge aluminum on screw-in hangers every 24 inches, and with no seams along the run, the most common failure point is gone. Every gutter system we install comes with a 5-year warranty.

What does your gutter warranty cover?

Our 5-year warranty covers leaks and gutters being pulled down by wind up to 50 mph or by ice and snow. If something covered goes wrong, call us and we’ll come back to fix it.

What gutter material do you use?

We use heavy .032-gauge aluminum, which is thicker than most gutter stock sold at home improvement stores. We fasten it with screw-in hangers every 24 inches, so it holds its pitch under wet leaves and ice instead of sagging between supports.

Do I need 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?

Most homes do fine with 5-inch gutters. We recommend 6-inch gutters for large or steep roofs and for corners where two rooflines drain into one spot, and we’ll tell you which your house needs at the free estimate.

Do gutter guards really work?

Good gutter guards keep out most leaves and debris, so you’ll clean your gutters far less often. They don’t eliminate maintenance entirely, since fine debris and pine needles still get through, so plan on an occasional check and a cleaning every so often.

Can you bury my downspouts?

Yes. We can run an underground drain line from each downspout to a pop-up emitter in the yard or another spot where the water can drain safely, which keeps water away from your foundation and gets rid of extensions on the lawn.

Do I need snow guards on a metal roof?

If you have a metal roof over a walkway, a driveway, gutters or anything else you’d rather not have snow land on, snow guards are worth it. Metal roofs release snow and ice suddenly, and a snow retention system like Sno-Bar holds it in place until it melts.

Do you repair gutters you didn't install?

No. We only service gutters we’ve installed ourselves, because we can stand behind the work. If your current gutters are damaged, we’ll give you a free estimate to replace them with seamless gutters.

Do you remove and haul away my old gutters?

Yes. We take down your old gutters and downspouts and haul them away as part of the installation.

Do you still clean gutters?

Yes. Anthony’s still offers gutter cleaning in Bloomington, whether you have our gutters or someone else’s.
